An Appeal of an Old Woman By Selina Parveen

An Appeal of an Old Woman

Selina Parveen

No, to lead a life with decency

Was, in no way , her destiny

She was not the type to control her life's happening

To cry and cry only was Jaitunbibi born

Her tasbih always wet with tear

Alas! She didn't follow

All the advices given to her

They fled like truant boys

She had to go to the sanitarium

With the young lad of the carpenter

What else could she do!

A woman destined to pine and peril...

A sound health was not her fate

Her scalp always oiled

Human company is all she longs for

Who likes an ill old woman ?

Haven't she loved man most !

She pleas not to be left uncared, unspoken, unheard

Deserted in the labyrinth of loneliness

She is not someone literate

Her pain and pleasure mean nothing to anybody

She begs pardon of people

With valuable things to say...

She still finds an infantile innocence

In the smile of a confirm conman.
