A Tale of Test-tube Rivers By Salem Suleri

A Tale of Test-tube Rivers

Salem Suleri

Carrying water in pitcher have ended long time ago

Woman and man get tired of going to the flowing river

How long will they open their portico, secrets of their body?

Rivers too are tired now

Where's raincoat, perplexed woman?

What unusual kind of cooperation

There's no youthfulness left as usual in the rivers

Not of itself, not of woman, nor of man.

There also remain unusual opposite journey

River is not a thing to observe

It now passes through tunnel

It is now felt with tube well, it is now supplies

Water to the houses of cities through pipes

Resembling snakes or bamboo In the toilets,

Kitchen, gardens In the summing tubs

Basins it flows as Test Tube Rivers has now become fact

Water turns to human beings; rivers are not in the rivers

Water flows towards water taps

O society, for You it is now.
